“My Thoughts”

My First Post

By: May | September 13, 2020 |

Hey Y’all  Welcome to my Blog page! I am soooo excited about my website. I started a Facebook page recently called Talk To Mae  ( https://www.facebook.com/Talk-To-Mae-112107607218875 )  where I post questions for discussion. I noticed that most people that respond would rather send an email conversation@talktomae.com response to discuss the questions, which is fine because the communication is welcomed.

I am a 55 year old introvert who has a million thoughts swirling around in this big head of mine. I have written down a lot of things over the years, but I am trying something a little different. Social media has not been a strong suit of mine and I am discovering that it is a LOT. On this page I will take a question from my Facebook page, Talk To Mae, and give my opinion on the subject. On this site, visit my One on One page if you would like to Zoom chat, I will be listening to you vent and if you want my opinion/perspective, I will give it. Throughout the years, I have been a sounding board for guys who wanted to vent or express themselves about things that they didn’t feel comfortable talking to other guys about and to get a female perspective. I think that being able to talk to someone you can trust is such a stress reliever. Thanks for visiting my website and let’s talk!

Does Anybody Understand An Introvert?

By: May | September 30, 2020 |

Hey Y’all  An introvert like me can go to a club or an event to listen to the loud music and just watch the crowd dance or act silly, while sitting there having a great time. Some extroverts may see this behavior and say “why are they here if they are gonna just sit there?”, not knowing that they are having a good time. In one instance, I noticed an introvert being harassed (in my opinion) by extroverts saying things like “why don’t you ever go anywhere?”, “you need to get out of the house and do something” or “why don’t you go do something fun?” First of all, why does it seem to bother some people when other people are doing exactly what they want to do. LOL Sometimes I can hibernate for a WHOLE weekend watching TV, on the computer, talking on the phone and listening to music all at the same time. Some extroverts may think that would be a horrible weekend for them, but we are all different and we like different things.

When it comes to me, being an introvert has it’s advantages and it has it’s disadvantages. Most of the time, I am in my own little world not caring what other people think, say or what they do. The advantage to this is that there is a “peace of mind” that comes with it. The disadvantage to this is that other people are wondering “why is she so quiet?”, “what is she thinking?”, “is she mad at me?” or “what is wrong with her?”. Sometimes there is a need to be concerned about what other people think. It could be the difference between having a job and not having a job. For example, if a supervisor is more concerned about what you are thinking about instead of the fact that you are doing a good job, this could be a disadvantage. Many years ago, I started a new job and I was quiet but I would say “hello” to everyone, but I didn’t have to much to say after that. A couple of months into the job, a young man said “why are you so mean?”. I said “I am not mean” and he said “well, why do you look so mean?” (usually that is a line that some guys use to strike up a conversation.. lol). I proceeded to tell him that I inherited my mean look from my daddy and what makes it worse is that I am quiet and shy. The young man and I were cool after that. I learned from the experience and I started putting forth an effort to strike up a conversation with people in some instances.
